In a public-facing post for The Conversation, my co-author Stephen Bagwell and I examine women's experiences post-disasters using the recent 2023 Turkey earthquakes as a case. We demonstrate women's unique experiences are often overlooked and women become one of the most vulnerable and overlooked populations during disaster recovery often leading to negative implications on women's safety, mental health, reproductive health, economic empowerment, and ultimately trust in government institutions.
